As a diverse company specializing in custom home builds, renovations, and design, it’s no surprise that we find ourselves in daily conversation surrounding the concept of functional living!  

Pre-COVID, we began to notice a common theme among our renovation clients. Home owners were looking for ways to create space within their homes which could fulfill a particular need such as home gyms, office space and more, without sacrificing in areas that currently served them well. This meant that our clients needed to consider structural additions to their homes or be willing to compromise on pre-existing spaces…both of which are typically costly and time intensive initiatives. No matter what, a sacrifice of time or space was involved for our clients, and so we thought to ourselves…what if we could fulfill this need without interrupting our clients current quality of living?

This sparked our realization that there was a significant gap in the marketplace for boutique accessory buildings!
We slowly began the planning for our MORE builds…but little did we know that a global pandemic was on the horizon. The need for space has never been greater, and we feel more than ever, that now is the time to prioritize the development of these builds.

MORE by McIntosh was born from the concepts of:

Affordability

Starting at $15,000, our MORE builds are an affordable option that offers additional boutique living space at home! When paired with the long term savings associated with our energy efficient building practices, you can’t go wrong.

Functionality

When it comes to functionality, there is so much that we can share. A few key features that we’d like to point out are…

• MORE builds are designed for customization. From matching your current home exterior to selecting custom interior finishings, we want you to love every part of your new living space! It should feel like an extension of your home.

• MORE builds are designed to be highly versatile. All of our spec models feature a pitched roof in order to accommodate the possibility of home gym use. You’ll have the ceiling height that you’ll need for taller pieces of equipment and overhead lifting.

• MORE builds are built to function efficiently on their own. Clients can choose to run power to them or not, and ease of power is as simple as running an extension cord from your home. You can also choose to have the electrical fully trenched into the ground.

Flexibility

Our MORE builds are designed for both inner city living and rural properties. You have the option to choose from ‘small, medium & large’ spec building sizes, while always having the option to go completely custom to accommodate your unique needs!

One of the best features of our building practices, is that the majority of our spec MORE builds will be built off site and out of your way, then delivered and installed at your desired location. A few circumstances would warrant on site building; larger custom models that require a traditional foundation; limited access to lifting a MORE build on site for installation; and if a custom model requires unique features that must be built on site.

Currently, we can ship our MORE builds to the majority of western Canada: Alberta, British Columbia & Saskatchewan. Shipping rates will vary depending on the location and turn around times are only 3 - 4 weeks from point of purchase!

Sustainability

You already know that we have a passion for creating beautiful spaces, but what you might not know is that we also believe in the importance of choosing sustainable eco-friendly building practices. We always choose to build green where we can and we’re continuously researching opportunities to enhance our green initiatives.
An example of green standards related to our MORE build is that we use prefabricated structural insulated panels in the walls and roof (SIPS) which cut down on material - a win for the environment - while also increasing the R Value of the building - a win for heating / cooling efficiencies!
