You could say it was coincidence that we both fell into the industry, but Nick was always focused on being a carpenter, and had a passion for working in the home build world. I on the other hand wanted to be a chef – a long way off from where I am now! After spending some time in SAIT’s culinary program I felt called to go in a different direction.
As Nick went through framing, finishing, custom millwork/carpentry pieces, and site supervising; I landed in the new home production build world managing show homes for various builders over the years. In 2014 Nick founded McIntosh Builders, which eventually brought me home to work alongside him in helping to build this business that we love so much.
Having the freedom to explore who we are as a company and where we pour our energy has allowed us to take on larger projects and full home designs & builds.
Nick loves all the little parts that make up a home, while I love anything that makes the final product look pretty! I fell in love with the creative process of designing someone’s dream home, which has instilled in me a passion for every part of the project.
The way we think about work and what we do always has a personal tie. That is why our home plans are named after wine regions! Our favourite thing to do together when our schedules and bank accounts allow, is to travel to new wine regions and experience the different cultures!
We are so committed to the company being about more than just numbers and running projects through as fast as we can. We want to have an impact on our clients through not only their love for the final product but also in the experience they have when working with us. The goal is to feel as though we’re spending time with friends - super personal and relaxed, exciting, and enjoyable! When we discuss initial concept designs, we like to crack open a bottle of wine and really get to know what the client is looking for in a relaxed and unique setting. Maintaining a smaller company is equally important to us, as we never want to lose those connections we make.
We are big believers in building green and utilizing the most sustainable practices we can throughout every aspect of our business. Now that we have our little son Lew, we want more than ever to live by our core values and beliefs of being honest and transparent with our clients, and to have a positive impact on each of their lives, while responsibly caring for the environment.
Thank you for being here, we hope to connect with you soon!
